We are very pleased to welcome your child to Kindergarten at École Marlborough Elementary! Our Kindergarten program offers young children meaningful learning opportunities in a play-based environment. For many children, Kindergarten is the first step in transitioning from preschools, daycare settings, or home environments to a formal school setting where there is one adult with up to 20 children.
Gradual Entry allows children to connect with their teacher, feel comfortable at school, make friends, and understand routines. We have found that this proactive approach to school entry provides a safe and comfortable start to your child’s school career. If you believe your child requires a longer period to transition to a full-day Kindergarten program, please discuss this with any of our Kindergarten teachers so that school staff can collaboratively plan with you to ensure your child’s transition is successful.
In gradual entry, your child will either be in Group A or B. These are temporary classroom placements to allow students to make connections within smaller groups with peers and staff, while slowly increasing to longer days. The school will be sending out emails to families in late August with this information.
You will also have the opportunity to meet with an assigned Kindergarten Staff Member to have a Welcoming Conversation. This is a Parent-Teacher interview. The interviews will take place during the gradual entry schedule. Please check your email for information on how to book a timeslot with your assigned Kindergarten Staff Member.
Following Gradual Entry, all Kindergarten students will begin full time instruction on Monday, September 21st, 2026 (with unique exceptions determined by parent/teacher/school).
