E-Scooter Information

Please be aware that e-scooters can only be ridden in communities that are part of BC’s pilot project.

Across the Burnaby School District:

  • e-scooters cannot be ridden on school property, only public roads are part of the pilot;
  • there are no charging stations at school for e-scooters; and
  • there are no storage areas inside schools for e-scooters.

Outside of school when using an e-scooter:

  • legally, across BC riders must be at least 16 years old; and
  • it is mandatory to wear a properly fitted bike helmet.

Information about pilot communities, generally, can be found here on the Government of BC’s website. We hope that you appreciate the clarity provided above regarding what that means at school. Specific information to Burnaby as a pilot community and safety tips can be found on the City of Burnaby’s website here.

We value your partnership. Community safety is a shared responsibility, and we respectfully invite your support in communicating the above information about e-scooters with your child.
